Ernesto Colnago was born on February 9, 1932 in Cambiago, near Milan, Italy. At age 13 he entered in world of two wheels and immediately he fall in love with bikes and cycling. In 1952 he founded Colnago and started to work as mechanic for several professional teams. His first big success as a frame builder dates back in 1960 when Luigi Arienti won gold medal at the Rome Olympic games. Colnago’s bikes still have a domination of the world’s cycling sports because Ernesto was always an innovator and pioneer of new technologies which supposedly provide more efficency or comfort.
Ernesto Colnago is a tireless technological innovator, but also an entrepreneur of great intuition as well. The technical and commercial collaboration with the Soviet Union the late 1970s and early 1980s brings a precious return of image, as well as important successes such as the gold Olympic medal from Moscow.
In late 1970s he designed and built an outstanding time trial machine especially for the team time trial 100km event at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow for the Russian Team. That oustanding lightweight bicycle with total aerodynamic approach was way ahead of the time and features crimped steel tubing of reduced-diameter; front brake caliper mounted to the rear of the fork while the rear brake caliper was attached inside the back triangle; 26/28 (650/700) wheels; full internal cable routing.
Here we are proudly offering one of the most advanced racing machines by great Ernesto – COLNAGO Mexico TT ”Aerodinamica” which dates back to early 1980s, still in original condition with all original parts. No extra words needed.
