08/11/2017SOMEC SPX Croce d’Aune (late 1980s) – SOLD
In 1973, a local bicycle “fanatic” Oliviero Gallegati from the Lugo (Romagna, Italy), began to manufacture exquisite custom road bicycles and founded SOMEC (SOcieta MECchanica) which became famous for unique finished products and using the most highly evolved technological and precise construction methods.
Somec is featuring two logos, ”The tulip”, because it is elegant, durable and comes in a vast array of colors and ”The stallion” which famous war warrior Francesco Baraccafrom Lugo had emblazoned on his airplane. This same horse was given by Baracca’s family to Ferrari, a prestigiuos car manufacturer.
Here we are offering another 1980s beauty build by expert artisans – Somec SPX CdA. The frame is made of Columbus SPX tubing with Cinelli bottom bracket shell, built with superb Campagnolo Croce d’Aune groupset (a version of C Record) groupset and Cinelli cockpit. Extraordinary details spotted all over the frame like enlightened headtube lugs and the ”tulip” engravings at the fork crown, head and seat lugs. Like most Somecs also this one shines in outstanding paintjob and is a real head-turner.
Amazing looking bike for a fair price.
