Ugo De Rosa, one of the most successful frame builders was born on January 27, 1934 in Milan, Italy. His passion led him to study mechanics and engineering at a technical college. Later, in the early 1950s he opened his first shop and commenced the manufacture of racing bicycles. He supplied many champions with his high-end bicycles and also strongly influenced the cycling industry with his amazing bikes from Cusano Milanino.
In early 1960s Ugo De Rosa gained a reputation and started to export his bikes across Europe. Ugo built a bike for Rick Van Looij and followed him in a team car when he became a world champion in 1961. De Rosa also built bikes for Gestone Nencini and Max Meyer. In 1969 he started to collaborate with Gianni Motta and reached the top in 1973 when he supplied Eddy Merckx and Molteni Team.
Here we are proudly presenting an outstanding masterpiece by great Ugo De Rosa – the DE ROSA Strada which dates back to 1971. The frame is work of art, made of Columbus SL tubing, featuring the perfection and attention to details and was a reference by which other racing bikes were judged back in early 1970s. Amazing lugs with cut-outs in the shape of ‘heart”, bottom bracket shell with 6 cut-outs, DE ROSA engravings at the top of the seat-stays and Campagnolo drop-outs. 1971 was the year when De Rosa introduced diamond shaped chain stay and new decals design – hearth logo on the head tube and seat tube. Completely build with top of the line components: Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset, original Cinelli cockpit and Cinelli Unicanitor saddle, NiSi wheels. Love at first sight!
