COLNAGO Super Saronni Shamal 54cm (neo retro) – SOLD

Description

Ernesto Colnago was born on February 9, 1932 in Cambiago, near Milan, Italy. At age 13 he entered in world of two wheels and immediately he fall in love with bikes and cycling. In 1952 he founded Colnago and started to work as mechanic for several professional teams. His first big success as a frame builder dates back in 1960 when Luigi Arienti won gold medal at the Rome Olympic games. Colnago’s bikes still have a domination of the world’s cycling sports because Ernesto was always an innovator and pioneer of new technologies which supposedly provide more efficency or comfort.

Colnago Super is for sure one of the most succesful racing bikes in history. It was released in 1968, produced for more than 20 years, was Colnago’s top model from late 1960 till early 1980s and became a legend with Eddy Merckx ridding for Molteni Team. The Super was designed for professionals riders and thanks to Columbus SL tubing it was a synonym for stiffness and lightnes.

Happy to present this another beauty from Cambiago, the COLNAGO Super Saronni. The frame dates back to early 1980s and it’s  made of superb Columbus SL tubes with Campagnolo drop-outs, shining in amazing Saronni red paintjob, chromed forks and chainstay. After many requests we decided to build this frame as ‘neo-retro‘ bike so we mounted Campagnolo Chorus 1999 groupset, outstanding Campagnolo Shamal Black wheels, vintage Campagnolo Record threaded headset, 3ttt cockpit. The result is a real eye-catching bike ready for comfortable and fast riding. The Saronni’s just get better with age, same as fine wine…

Love at first sight. For all Colnago enthusiasts.
