COLNAGO Super Profil Cromovelato, Campagnolo Super Record, 58cm (1982/83)

Ernesto Colnago was born on February 9, 1932 in Cambiago, near Milan, Italy. At age 13 he entered in world of two wheels and immediately he fall in love with bikes and cycling. In 1952 he founded Colnago and started to work as mechanic for several professional teams. Colnago’s bikes still have a domination of the world’s cycling sports because Ernesto was always an innovator and pioneer of new technologies which supposedly provide more efficency or comfort.

In response to criticism that Colnago frames were not stiff enough, Ernesto experimented with various crimped-tube frames. In 1982 he introduced the Super Profil which was the first frameset with crimped tubes by Colnago. The Super Profil was constructed with superb Columbus SL tubing with crimped top tube, down tube and chainstay. With special geometry the frame was stiffer which improved performance. In theory, it’s identical to Colnago Nuovo Mexico model from 1982, but has profiled chainstay as well. That’s why very often confused with Nuovo Mexico.

Happy to present another Italian steel racing machine from Cambiago, the Colnago Super Profil. Superb frameset is made of crimped Columbus SL tubing, dates back to 1982-83, shining in outstanding Cromovelato blue paintjob, completely build with Campagnolo Super Record groupset, 3ttt Colnago stem and handlebar, Campagnolo Omega rims and San Marco Concor saddle. No much words needed.
