COLNAGO Super Nuovo Record 62cm (1972) – SOLD

Description

Ernesto Colnago was born on February 9, 1932 in Cambiago, near Milan, Italy. At age 13 he entered in world of two wheels and immediately he fall in love with bikes and cyclingIn 1952 he founded Colnago and started to work as mechanic for several professional teams. His first big success as a frame builder dates back in 1960 when Luigi  Arienti won gold medal at the Rome Olympic games. Colnago’s bikes still have a domination of the world’s cycling sports because Ernesto was always an innovator and pioneer of new technologies which supposedly provide more efficency or comfort.

Colnago Super is for sure one of the most succesful racing bikes in history. It was released in 1968, produced for more than 20 years, was Colnago’s top model of late 1960 and 1970s. The Super was designed for professionals riders and thanks to Columbus SL tubing it was a synonym for stiffness and lightnes. It became a legend with Eddy Merckx ridding for Molteni TeamEddy Merckx ”The Cannibal” is one the most successful cyclist in history, with 525 victories to his name.  He won the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia five time each, has won all of the top events except for the Paris-Tours, has won the Vuelta a España, has won the World championship. In 1972 he was part of Moteni Team and rode almost identical Colnago Super as we are presenting here.

Proudly presenting this iconic early 70s racing machine made by Ernesto Colnago – COLNAGO Super. The frame is shinning in beautiful green paintjob, made of Columbus SL tubing and features 1972 details of fork crown, lugs and dropouts. Completely build with Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset (175mm cranks) and extraordinary parts like enlightened Cinelli stem and handlebar, Mavic rims, new old stock San Marco saddle. No much words needed.

Love at first sight. Ready for any historic cycling event.
