Ernesto Colnago was born on February 9, 1932 in Cambiago, near Milan, Italy. At age 13 he entered in world of two wheels and immediately he fall in love with bikes and cycling. In 1952 he founded Colnago and started to work as mechanic for several professional teams. His first big success as a frame builder dates back in 1960 when Luigi Arienti won gold medal at the Rome Olympic games. Colnago’s bikes still have a domination of the world’s cycling sports because Ernesto was always an innovator and pioneer of new technologies which supposedly provide more efficency or comfort.
Colnago Super is for sure one of the most succesful racing bikes in history. It was released in 1968, produced for more than 20 years, was Colnago’s top model of late 1960s and 1970s and became a legend with Eddy Merckx ridding for Molteni Team. The Super was designed for professionals riders and thanks to Columbus SL tubing it was a synonym for stiffness and lightnes.
Team SCIC was an Italian professional cycling team that existed from 1969 to 1979. It was one of the strongest teams in professional peloton. They had several great champions on board like world champion Vittorio Adorni, Gianbattista Baronchelli, Walter Riccomi… They were sponsored by COLNAGO as bike supplier.
iWalter Riccomi (born 18 January 1950) is a retired Italian professional road cyclist. He rode for Team Sammontana in 1973-74, the moved to Team SCIC in 1975 and stayed there for 5 seasons. Riccomi finished in the top ten of a grand tour four times, but did not win any stage. In 1975 he finished Giro di Italia on 7th place and Tour de Suisse on 5th place. He also competed in the individual road race at the 1972 Summer Olympics.
Proudly presenting another beautiful Italian racing machine, the COLNAGO Super Team SCIC – authentic bike of Walter Riccomi, from 1975 season.
