DE ROSA Titanio – Gewiss Ballan Team (1994-95) – SOLD

Ugo De Rosa, one of the most successful frame builders was born on January 27, 1934 in Milan, Italy. His passion led him to study mechanics and engineering at a technical college. Later, in the early 1950s he opened his first shop and commenced the manufacture of racing bicycles. He supplied many champions with his high-end bicycles (Gianni Motta, Eddy Merckx and Francesco Moser…), and also strongly influenced the cycling industry with his amazing bikes from Cusano Milanino.

In 1990 Ugo De Rosa embarked on a new project to build a bicycle from titanium tubes which would stand up to rigors of professional racing and have the ride quality of a DeRosa. Ugo spent over three years in the reserach and development phase of his newly project. In late 1993 the DeRosa Titanio was born and delivered to the Gewiss-Ballan Team. The results were fantastic, the riders were flying on their racing machines. The Gewiss-Ballan team collected over 40 victories in 1994, some of their biggest were: Milan-San Remo (G.Furlan), Liege-Bastogne-Liege (E.Berzin), Fleche Vallone (Argentin, Furlan, Berzin), Giro d’Italia (Berzin beating M.Indurain), Tour of Lombary (V.Bobrik). One of  the riders, who joined the Gewiss-Ballan Team in November 1994 was Ermanno Brignoli who supported his team captians at the biggest races. He stayed in Gewiss team for 4 years, later he joined Marco Pantani and Mercatone Uno for another 4 years.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Proudly presenting this extraordinary racing machine from mid 1990s – DEROSA Titanio, ridden by Italian Ermanno Brignolli, Gewiss-Ballan Team member. Superb frame is made of superlight titanium tubeset, marked with EB 386 at the bottom bracket shell and equipped with Campagnolo Record 8s groupset, Ambrosio Squadra Corse wheels, Flite Titanium saddle, 3ttt cockpit. A bike with a soul that brings back mid 1990s memories.
