Cinelli was founded in 1948 by Cino Cinelli (born Montespertoli, Italy, 9 February 1916, died 20 April 2001), a former professional road racer and president of the Italian Cyclists’ Association. He was a professional racer from 1937 to 1944, winning Milano-San Remo in 1943, the Giro di Lombardia in 1938, and the Giro dell Appenino in 1937.
Failure to interest manufacturers with his ideas in 1946 led him to start his own company. He started a company under his name in 1948. His brother Giotto was making steel stems and bars in Florence and Cinelli moved the business to Milan, the centre of the Italian cycling industry. He made stems, bars and frames also for other companies. Someone may remember him as a rider, many others remember him as the father the first aluminium handlebars, the first seat with a plastic core, the first pedal straps, the first quick release pedals.
Proudly presenting this stunning vintage steel track jewel, the CINELLI Supercorsa Pista. The frame is work of art, dates back to 1950s and is featuring extraordinary details like Cinelli headbadge, typical Cinelli seatstay and fork crown among the others. The cheery on the top of the cake are special “passo Humber” drivetrain, original steel Cinelli Pista stem and handlebar, Campagnolo FB Pista hubs with Fiamme Pista wheels, BROOKS saddle. Love at firist sight.
Very nice catch for any vintage bike collector.
