BIANCHI Specialissima X3 – Special Edition, 56cm (1983) – SOLD

Description

Bianchi is the world’s oldest bicycle-making company still in existence, founded in 1885 by Eduardo Bianchi in Milan, Italy. No doubt, Bianchi is the pioneer of bicycle development since the beginning. They invented equal-sized wheels with pneumatic rubber tires in 1895, first bicycle ever featuring a cardan joint transmission in 1901 and front brake system in 1913.

Throughout Bianchi’s 130-year history, the Specialissima name has represented the pinnacle of the Italian legend’s road machine line-up. The ”Specialissima” was introduced in late 1950s as successor of famous ”Campione del mondo” model and remains Bianchi’s top model till today.

Some people says the Bianchi X3 and X4 are the most perfect steel racing bike ever produced. For the dedicated Bianchi collector, the Bianchi X3 is high on the list of must have bikes. Bianchi produced the X3 for a short time, in years between 1982-85 , and is very similar to “Centenario 1985”. The X3 was constructed from either Columbus SL or SLX, known as the best choice for professional racing. Some important details which makes the X3 so exclusive and desirable:

  1. Bianchi engraved in a sloped chromed fork crown
  2. Special Bianchi X3 investment cast lug set
  3. Squared brake bridge with pantograph “Bianchi” on both sides
  4. Aero-shaped seat stays

Proudly presenting another Bianchi‘s top class racing machine, the Specialissima X3 which dates back to 1983 and still shines in completely original condition. A real time capsule. It’s one of the finest versions of Bianchi X3, very similar to Bianchi Centenario bike which was released in 1985. Special edition metalic grey paint job of the frameset, which is made of superb Columbus SLX tubing and built with special edition Campagnolo Super Record groupset with Bianchi pantographs and cut-outs stem, seatpost and chainring. A
