In 1973, a local bicycle “fanatic” Oliviero Gallegati from the Lugo (Romagna, Italy), began to manufacture exquisite custom road bicycles and founded SOMEC (SOcieta MECchanica) which became famous for unique finished products and using the most highly evolved technological and precise construction methods.
Somec is featuring two logos, ”The tulip”, because it is elegant, durable and comes in a vast array of colors and ”The stallion” which famous war warrior Francesco Baracca from Lugo had emblazoned on his airplane. This same horse was given by Baracca’s family to Ferrari, a prestigiuos car manufacturer.
Very happy to present a masterpiece, build by expert artisans – Somec Promax. The frame is made of extraordinary Columbus MAX tubing, where oversize toptube and downtube have an elliptical ending, shines in amazing paintjob, built with superb Campagnolo C Record Century finish groupset and pantograph parts.
This special beauty was made to represent Somec’s excellence at a bikeshow in Milan in late 1980s and this same bike was also published in their catalogue on the cover photo. If you are looking for something extraordinary and unique than that’s it.
