Eddy Merckx Team SC Domo-Farm Frites, ridden by Axel Merckx (2001)-SOLD

Description

Axel Merckx (born 8 August 1972 in Uccle) is a Belgian former professional road cyclist and the son of five-time Tour de France champion Eddy Merckx. In his professional career (1993–2007), he won the Belgian national championship in 2000 and a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

Domo–Farm Frites was a Belgian professional road cycling team that existed in the 2001–02 road cycling seasons. It was founded by Patrick Lefevere and the bulk of the Belgian riders from the Mapei Team, including Johan Museeuw.

Made from Easton SC7000 aluminum, it titillates most for its palmares and for the era when those palmares were earned. Let’s see: A 1-2-3 finish for Team Domo on the Team SC in the 2001 Paris – Roubaix. A breathtaking 243km breakaway for Team Domo’s Richard Virenque in the 2001 Paris Tours, followed by a crushing solo breakaway win in the 2002 Paris – Roubaix by Team Domo-Farm Frites’ John Musseuw, again on a Team SC. The Team SC then showed its versatility by Virenque’s solo stage win to Mont Ventoux in the 2002 Tour de France. And in 2003 we saw more glory for the Team SC with the Tour of Flanders / Paris-Roubaix by Team Domo-Lotto’s Peter van Petegem. At the end of the 2002 season the team merged with the remnants of the disbanded Mapei team and became Quick Step-Davitamon, with Lefevere at the helm. Sponsor Domo joined Lotto to co-sponsor team Lotto-Domo, with Marc Sergeant as team manager and taking several riders with him.

Proudly present the original Eddy Mercky Team SC frame, ridden by Axel Merckx of Domo Farm Frites Team in 2001, made of superb Easton SC7000 and beautiful paintjob. The official team bike od Domo Farm Frites came with carbon-wrapped chainstays. The frame was 3x the cost and a 1/2lb heavier than the state-of-the-art alu frame back then. It was a glorious time and along with its palmares that’s why we treasure this frame.

Perfect frame for enthusiasts or collectors.
