Ernesto Colnago was born on February 9, 1932 in Cambiago, near Milan, Italy. At age 13 he entered in world of two wheels and immediately he fall in love with bikes and cycling. In 1952 he founded Colnago and started to work as mechanic for several professional teams. His first big success as a frame builder dates back in 1960 when Luigi Arienti won gold medal at the Rome Olympic games. Colnago’s bikes still have a domination of the world’s cycling sports because Ernesto was always an innovator and pioneer of new technologies which supposedly provide more efficency or comfort.
Colnago Super Roma is one of earlier Ernesto’s bikes and for sure one of the most collectible racing bikes. It was released in 1968, as a successor of Colnago Freccia. Super became a legend with Eddy Merckx ridding for Molteni Team. The Super Roma was designed for professionals riders and thanks to Columbus SL tubing, it was a synonym for stiffness and lightness.
Here we are proudly presenting another very rare steel beauty, one of earlier Colnagos masterpieces – Colnago Super Roma which dates back to 1968-69. The frame is work of art, made of Columbus SL tubing and was a reference by which other racing bikes were judged back in late 1960s. Built with Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset, Universal Super 68 brakes, Cinelli stem and saddle, Mavic rims. No much words needed, simply love at first sight.
Rare collectible Colnago. L’Eroica ready.
