Ernesto Colnago was born on February 9, 1932 in Cambiago, near Milan, Italy. At age 13 he entered in world of two wheels and immediately he fall in love with bikes and cycling. In 1952 he founded Colnago and started to work as mechanic for several professional teams. Colnago’s bikes still have a domination of the world’s cycling sports because Ernesto was always an innovator and pioneer of new technologies which supposedly provide more efficency or comfort.
The aluminium was the material of choice after Marco Pantani won Giro d’Itali and Tour de France in 1998 on his aluminium Bianchi Mega Pro. In 1999 and 2000, the most important bike manufacturers Colnago, Pinarello, Bianchi, De Rosa and others were supplying their world top riders with different varieties of aluminium frames. Colnago’s top of the line aluminium frame was called Dream and it was made of welded Columbus Airplane aluminum tubing, with star shaped top and down tube, carbon precisa forks. It was light, stiff and comfortable.
The GEO paint scheme is a true representation of how Colnago has touch all four corners of the world with their passion and dedication to cycling. Each Colnago GEO is not only special because of how amazing it looks and how exclusive they are, but because each frame is hand painted.
