VITUS ZX1 Carbon, Campagnolo Record 8s, 57.5cm (1995) – SOLD

Vitus is an iconic bicycle company born in France as a high-end steel tubing manufacturer in the 1930s and became one of the most sought after high-end race frames as we established ourselves as a frame brand in the 1970’s. Their rich heritage in road cycling and pioneering role in the development of aluminium and carbon fiber bicycle frames has underpinned a long list of top teams and riders that chose to race on Vitus. Most famous being Sean Kelly on board the Vitus 979 as the worlds No1 in the 1980s.

Vitus made themselves a name as France’s leading manufacturers of high-quality frame tubing. Their products were on a par with Reynolds and Columbus. And when the new material came by, Vitus didn’t remain behind. Carbon was already proven as a bicycle frame material, but it was still in form of tubes connected together by some additional elements. In the late 80s and early 90s many manufacturers experimented with more advanced solution – the carbon momocoque. From the beginning, it was difficult to produce the frames in high volumes, different sizes and the whole manufacturing process was very very expensive. It was a challange.

But it allowed for different shapes, characteristics and geometry alterations, as this Vitus ZX1 Early Carbon Monocoque Bike displays. The frame shape is stunning and the paintjob is eqally bold, as it should be on a propper 90s racer.

Here we are presenting a superb mid 90s racing bike – VITUS ZX1 Carbon. Extraordinary carbon frameset is built with Campagnolo Record 8s groupset (1995), Campagnolo Shamal wheels, 3ttt stem and handlebar, all in excellent condition.

A dream bike for every bike collector.
