BIANCHI Specialissima X4 Argentin, Campagnolo C Record Delta, 55cm (1988) – SOLD

Bianchi is the world’s oldest bicycle-making company still in existence, founded in 1885 by Eduardo Bianchi in Milan, Italy. No doubt, Bianchi is the pioneer of bicycle development since the beginning. They invented equal-sized wheels with pneumatic rubber tires in 1895, first bicycle ever featuring a cardan joint transmission in 1901 and front brake system in 1913.

Throughout Bianchi’s 130-year history, the Specialissima name has represented the pinnacle of the Italian legend’s road machine line-up. The ”Specialissima” was introduced in early 1960s as successor of famous ”Campione del mondo” model and remains Bianchi’s top model till today.

Some say the Bianchi X4 is the most perfect steel racing bike ever produced. The X4 was the last of the very famous Specialissma bikes produced by Bianchi before the company paired down the Specialissma look with early 90’s lugless and unicrown fork designs. For the dedicated Bianchi collector, the Bianchi X4 is high on the list of must have bikes. Bianchi produced the X4 in years between 1986 and 1991, as a development of the “Centenario 1985”. The early X4 was constructed from Columbus SLX, known as the best choice for professional racing. Some important details which makes the X4 so exclusive and desirable:

  1. Bianchi crest engraved in a chromed fork crown
  2. Bianchi special pantograph gold hand painted head badge
  3. Special Bianchi X4 investment cast lug set
  4. Squared brake bridge with pantograph “X4” on the right side
  5. Internally routed rear derailleur cable, routed through drive side chain stay
