TOMMASINI Sintesi SLX New, Campagnolo Record 8s, 58cm (1994) – SOLD

Irio Tommasini was born in early 1930s, in Grosseto (Tuscany), not far from Siena. He began his life as a framebuilder under the supervision of Giuseppe “the Magician” Pelà in 1948 while working in his factory in Lombardy, northern Italy. Pelà was a highly respected builder, but usually built for other brands (Pelà was building frames for Faema Team in 1968-1970). Irio Tommasini worked closely with him, so he learned and improved his own craft. At the Pelà’s factory he worked in the Racing Section (Reparto Corse) and turned his hand to whatever was needed. In early 1950s Irio Tommasini build bicycles that would be raced by champions, such as Louison Bobet, the first three-time Tour de France (1953-54-55) winner. In 1957 Irio Tommasini founded Cicli Tommassini and relocate to Grosseto where he started to build his own bikes.

In mid 1980s Tommasini lauched their top model called ”Super Prestige” and immediately became very popular. Like all Tommasini frames also this one shows extraordinray details of lugs and cut-outs which were carefully filled and customized for highest performance. A trully work of art.

Happy to present this beautiful example of Italian cycling craftmanship, the Tommasini Sintesi. The frame is work of art, made of Columbus SLX New tubing, featuring the perfection and attention to details to providing the best performance you might expect from mid 1990s steel bicycle. Fully build with Campagnolo Record 8s groupset, superb GIPIEMME. Tecno 416 wheelset, 3ttt Tommasini cockpit, San Marco Regal Squadra Corse saddle.  Outstanding condition. Ready for serious riding.

Nice catch for any vintage bike lover. Fair price.
