TOMMASINI Carbon Velocista by A.PESENTI, 1 of 1 bike (1988) – SOLD

Irio Tommasini was born in early 1930s, in Grosseto (Tuscany), not far from Siena. He began his life as a framebuilder under the supervision of Giuseppe “the Magician” Pelà in 1948 while working in his factory in Lombardy, northern Italy. Pelà was a highly respected builder, but usually built for other brands (Pelà was building frames for Faema Team in 1968-1970). Irio Tommasini worked closely with him, so he learned and improved his own craft. At the Pelà’s factory he worked in the Racing Section (Reparto Corse) and turned his hand to whatever was needed. In early 1950s Irio Tommasini build bicycles that would be raced by champions, such as Louison Bobet, the first three-time Tour de France (1953-54-55) winner. In 1957 Irio Tommasini founded Cicli Tommassini and relocate to Grosseto where he started to build his own bikes.

Andrea Pesenti, a renowned framebuilder, gained fame as the creator of the Cinelli Laser. Throughout his career, Pesenti collaborated extensively with Cinelli and also under his own name, consistently pushing boundaries with innovative designs, showcasing a penchant for futuristic concepts. After the Cinelli Laser projects, Pesenti focused on carbon bikes using  carbon fibber monocoque technology. The results was a bike  very futuristic design for aerodynamic approach.
