Giovanni Pinarello was born in Catena di Villorba, Italy in 1922. He was the eighth of 12 brothers. At the age of fifteen, Giovanni began making bicycles at the factory of Paglianti. After a successful amateur career he turned professional in 1947. After his carrer, in 1952 he founded Cicli Pinarello S.p.A. in Treviso, Italy.
Pinarello has sponsored several professional teams – Team Banesto (Indurain), Team Telekom (Ullrich), Caisse d’Epargne(Valverde), Fassa Bortolo (Petacchi), Team Sky (Froome), Movistar (Quintana) among the others. In the last 30 years Pinarello bikes won incredible 13 Tour de France titles.
In 1995, Pinarello launched their new top level model, the ”PARIS” , first Pinarello’s model with oversized oval section tubing, which immediately claimed the title of ”winning machine”. Pinarello Paris was used by 2 of the strongest team in mid 1990s – Team Banesto and Telekom with many famous rider on board: J.Ullrich, B.Riis, E.Zabel, Wesemann, Aldag. German rider, Jan Ullrich (Team Telekom) won the 1997 Tour de France on identical bike (just different paintjob).
Here we are presenting a legendary Pinarello Paris, which dates back to 1996-97 and shines in beautiful Team Banesto paintjob. The frame is made of tig welded Deddacciai Vires 7003 aluminum with oval downtube to increase the stiffness. Built with Campagnolo Record Titanium 9s groupset, Campagnolo Shamal 12 HPW Titanium wheels, ITM Krystal titanium stem, Selcof Titanium seatpost , Selle Italia Turbo Matic saddle, so all identical parts that were used by cycling champions from that era…
