PINARELLO Montello SLX, Campagnolo C-Record Delta, 58cm (1987) – SOLD

Giovanni Pinarello was born in Catena di Villorba, Italy in 1922. He was the eighth of 12 brothers. At the age of fifteen, Giovanni began making bicycles at the factory of Paglianti. After a successful amateur career he turned professional in 1947. After his carrer, in 1952 he founded Cicli Pinarello S.p.A. in Treviso, Italy.

The Pinarello Montello SLX was a landmark model for Pinarello and is for sure one of the best racing machine which ever left Giovanni Pinarello’s factory in Treviso, Italy. The  ”Montello SLX” was their top model in years 1984-’88 and basically the  frame with which Pinarello started to dominate on cycling races around the globe. In mid 1980s Montello SLX achieved many important  victories such as the 1984 Olympics Road Race, Vuelta a España, the Giro d’Italia and stages of the Tour de France.

Pinarello Montello was a reference by which other racing bikes were judge back in mid 1980s.

Proudly presenting this superb racing machine – Pinarello Montello SLX, which dates back to 1987. The frame is work of art, shinning in beautiful and original metallic red paintjob. Made of Columbus SLX tubing with Pinarello’s special designed bottom bracket. Easy to detect  beautiful Pinarello pantographs and cut-outs appeared in many locations like fork crown, lugs, bottom bracket, seat clamp, front derailleur braze-on, rear brake bridge. Completely built with superb Campagnolo C Record groupset and iconic Delta brakes, Cinelli stem and handlebar, NiSi Laser rims, San Marco Rolls saddle. Love at first sight!
