PESENTI Modular 3 – prototype track bike (1993) – SOLD

Andrea Pesenti, a renowned framebuilder, gained fame as one of the creators of the Cinelli Laser. Throughout his career, Pesenti collaborated extensively with Cinelli and also under his own name, consistently pushing boundaries with innovative designs, showcasing a penchant for futuristic concepts.

“Laserman” was the driving force behind the classic Cinelli Laser design of bikes, during an era when cycle design could be as bold as the materials would allow, unhindered by overly stringent regulations.

Pesenti realised Modular 1 in mid 1980s, one of the first bikes manufactured in carbon fibber monocoque technology. Featuring a very futuristic design for aerodynamic approach.

Later in 1993 he released the Modular 3. It was a dream come true for Andrea Pesenti. Full aerodynamic approach and very futuristic bike that could be a winning thing for Hour Record attempt on the track and also planned to be used for Italian National Track Team for Olympics in Atlanta 1996. But UCI didn’t give a permission, because the bike is too aerodynamic and would provide a too big advantage for certain riders.

Musem piece. Used for display only.
