DE ROSA Titanio Team Gewiss Ballan – authentic bike of E.BERZIN (Giro d’Italia 1994) – SOLD

Ugo De Rosa, one of the most successful frame builders was born on January 27, 1934 in Milan, Italy. His passion led him to study mechanics and engineering at a technical college. Later, in the early 1950s he opened his first shop and commenced the manufacture of racing bicycles. He supplied many champions with his high-end bicycles (Gianni Motta, Eddy Merckx and Francesco Moser…), and also strongly influenced the cycling industry with his amazing bikes from Cusano Milanino.

In early 1990 Ugo De Rosa embarked on a new project to build a bicycle from titanium tubes which would stand up to rigors of professional racing and have the ride quality of a DeRosa. Ugo spent over three years in the reserach and development phase of his newly project. In late 1993 the DeRosa Titanio was born and delivered to the Gewiss-Ballan Team. The results were fantastic, the riders were flying on their racing machines. The Gewiss-Ballan team collected over 40 victories in 1994, some of their biggest were: Milan-San Remo (G.Furlan), Liege-Bastogne-Liege (E.Berzin), Fleche Vallone (Argentin, Furlan, Berzin), Giro d’Italia (Berzin beating M.Indurain), Tour of Lombary (V.Bobrik).

Evgeni Berzin was born on June 3rd 1970 in Vyborg, Russia. Coming from track cycling, where he successfully represented the Soviet Union at World Championships, he moved to Italy in 1992 and turned professional with Gewiss Ballan in 1993. His second season in 1994 was to be his best, with victories at the Giro d’Italia and Liège–Bastogne–Liège. He won the 1994 Giro ahead of Marco Pantani and Miguel Indurain.

Giro d’Italia 1994

He finished second at the 1995 Giro d’Italia, but failed to live up to high expectations in the years after. A brief spell in the race leader’s yellow jersey and a stage win at the 1996 Tour de France, were his last big results. In 1997, he unsuccessfully attempted to break Chris Boardman’s hour record. He retired from the sport in 2001.

Here we are proudly offering an authentic winning bike of Evgeni Berzin from the Giro d’Italia 1994 – the DE ROSA Titanio Gewiss Ballan. Signed by E.Berzin and U.De Rosa. It comes with original pink jersey from the Giro ’94. After more than 30 years, still in original condition.
