In 1989, Carrera manager Davide Boifava together with Luciano Bracchi and Francesco Boifava founded Carrera Podium, a high-end bike manufacturer. It was founded as a result of experiences gained in professional cycling races by the three partners. The company’s goal which is simple and clear, and which is supported by a rich history of over 500 victories in the most prestigious competitions. From 1990 on, Pantani, Chiappucci, Roche, Bontempi, Abdoesjaparov, Sorensen, Tafi, Zberg, Zaina,Pavlic.. rode this Carrera bikes made by their experts. In years 1989-1996 CARRERA Podium supplied bikes for CARRERA Jeans Team.
In 1998 Davide Boifava created Asics CGA Team and of course they were sponsored by Podium. They were racing on TIG welded steel frames made by G.Milani and D.Pegoretti who worked under the contract with Boifava. The Asics CGA was one of the strongest teams back then with many great riders like M.Bartoli, K.A.Arvesen, P.Bettini, A.Noe, L.Scinto, S.Schiavina, F.Simeoni and others. Their bikes were equipped with Shimano Dura Ace 7700 groupsets, Cinelli stems and bars, San Marco saddles and basically these were one the last steel frames used in pro peloton.
Happy to present this Italian steel racing machine – Carrera ”Eagle” by Podium, which dates back to 1998 and was ridden by Samuele Schiavina. The frameset is made by greatest experts for TIG welding – Gino Milani and Dario Pegoretti, which is cleary visible on the frameset. Steel frame without the lugs, but with finest welding points. Very likely they used Columbus Nivachrom tubing, which was lightest choice back then. Shinning in beautiful Asics CGA Team paintojob with completely original setup. No extra words needed.
Great catch for a team bike collector.
