BATAGLIN Compact Line Carbon by C4, Campagnolo C-Record, (1989) – SOLD

Battaglin Giovanni is a legendary former cyclist and was born on 22nd July 1951 in Marostica (Vicenza, North-East Italy). In 1981, in space of less than two months, he won Vuelta and Giro and was only the second rider after Eddy Merckx to win the Vuelta-Giro double. In early 1980s, on the wake of his cycling’s successes and after a violent bike crash, he decided to start building bikes in a tiny workshop near his hometown. Very soon he launched his first bicycle.

C4 was founded in 1986 in order to create and build carbon fiber projects by engineer Marco Bonfanti. Bonfanti was the first frame builder using NJCNo Joint Construction, which enables the building of hollow structures without joints: The first Monocoque Frame. In 1987 , a few top Bianchi riders rode the time trial on bikes designed and built by C4. These were a world preview of special features such as full cable integration and the monocoque carbon technique. In the year 1994 C4 was the primary sponsor of the professional cycling Team Polti, with Gianni Bugno and Ivan Gotti.

Here we are proudly presenting one of the most iconic 1980s carbon masterpieces. 1989 BATTAGLIN Compact Line Carbon, made in collaboration with C4. Full carbon frameset, very aerodynamic and advanced for it’s time, full internal cable routing. Built with top of the line Campagnolo C-Record groupset and Cobalto brakes, Cinelli stem and handlebart, San Marco Rolls  saddle. Museum piece. Signed by Giovanni Battaglin.

A dream for every vintage bike collector.
